Q is for Quadrate

Of the word "quadrate" my dictionary says the following "....a cube, square, or a square or cubelike object". I reckon the rubiks cube fits into that category. And I would just like to point out that although it's not quite as macro as the others, it is a close up shot so it stays put.

My first choice of subject was a thermometer but in the end I decided not to go with it. How thermometer fits into the "Q" theme, I'll let you work out for yourselves :-)

  1. Lovely shot. Love how it looks like it's balancing on its corner! Awesome lighting with lovely soft and limited shadows. Great job.

My husband has a theory of how the thermometer fits in with Q, but I won't give it away now and will wait and see if he is right... I hope you go with the thermometer when you get to 'T'.

  3. Just love the way you have it looking as though it's standing on one point, the front one and the colours are so outstanding and stunning.
    Sweet!

  5. This looks like a picture in a magazine! GREAT composition, and I like how you showed us the whole rubik's cube. (not cropped like the others)

  6. This image is great for use in an advertising piece. The composition is wonderful and the colors in a superwhite background are stuning!
    About the thermometer:
Here in Brazil the object fix perfectly in the "Q": Q is for QUENTE.
    In English "quente" is HOT...

  7. Creative composition with the cube standing on an edge :) The q has something to do with mercury, am I right?

  8. I like the balancing illusion.
I used to know how to solve the Rubic's Cube....not too sure if I could do it now or not.

  9. Love the way you set this up...

Was it quicksilver you had as the other choice? How interesting that "quente" is "hot" in Portugese...

  10. I really like how you used the exaggerated perspective on this one. The colours really look great too.
I'd love to see a demo of how you are setting up the lighting for these shots.

  12. Even though it's full-sized and deadcentre you manage to make it to be a very interesting photo. I love the vibrant colours of those cubes. Perfect models for a 30 day challenge ;)
