Uuuuugggh! Today goes down as the most frustrating day of the challenge so far. Remind me never to photograph things that move again!! I’ve had enough. The snail has had enough. These are the results.

My theme for January 2009 is: "Things close up - alphabetical style". For this challnge I have chosen to use my Olympus sp-310.
You got to shoot the pet without exploring the image of the shell!
ReplyDeleteAnd, even being a slug, it was beautiful in your photo. What texture! I don't know which of the two photos was better... I think the second ... I do'n't know ...
I only know that were very good! Congratulations on this more!
Snails can be very difficult, can't they! They are so demanding, and always quick to get into a strop and refuse to follow direction!
ReplyDeleteI find that giving them a small line of coke right before a shoot really peps them up and makes them far easier to work with! ;-)
Awesome shots. The effort was well worth it. I've never tried shooting a snail before but these are really something special.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the texture of the skin.....this is a very cool subject and I like both photos
ReplyDeleteI like the one you picked (more) - because it makes me curious. You did an unbelievable job getting the texture and the detail here - I hate snails but I love this picture!
ReplyDeleteI'm still catching up on pics but I'm almost there...phew!
ReplyDeleteI adore(?) them both (I can't believe I just typed that!) because of the texture and the details you have captured.
Amazing that a simple snail can be so beautiful and sort of nice.
(Did you squash it after the shoot???)
;-)
I heartly dislike them in my garden but I can't help but admire their looks, especially when shot the way you did.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! An amazing shot! Who knew a snail could be so interesting? The effort was well worth it!
ReplyDeleteI just love both these shots! Very nice work and they both look really great. I think that the first one maybe matches the rest of your collection better, being more off the frame, but I think that without the context of your collection, I like the second one better. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing detail of its skin. This is a pretty good looking snail. I took a few shots of a snail before for my nature macro and it looked so dirty and slimy I didn't bother showing it anymore. Did you pluck this from the garden?
